Using and editing custom summary templates

Learn how to use, switch, and edit Coffee’s AI summary templates to tailor meeting insights to your workflow.

Updated over a week ago

Quick Summary

Coffee automatically creates an AI summary for every recorded meeting. A default General template is applied, and you can switch to any pre-created template or edit them to match your process.

Permissions note:
Editing and creating summary templates is restricted to admins. All other roles can apply and use existing templates.

How Coffee’s summary templates work

After a meeting is recorded, Coffee generates an AI summary using the General template.
You can:

  • Switch to a different pre-created template based on other sales methodologies (e.g. BANT, MEDDIC, MEDDPICC, SPICED)

  • If you are an admin or owner, you can also:

    • Edit existing templates

    • Save your own custom template

This lets you personalize summaries for different sales methodologies or your own custom workflow (discovery, negotiation, onboarding, implementation, etc.).

How to select or edit a summary template

Follow these steps from any recorded meeting:

  1. Go to the meeting you want to review.

  2. Open any follow-up item to reveal the meeting tools.

  3. In the top-right corner, click into the meeting summary panel.

  4. In the bottom-right corner either select a different template from the list, or click the gear icon next to the template name to edit it.
