What agents can read and do

See the data an agent can access and the actions it can take, from Slack messages to safety rails that protect your records.

Every agent works within clear limits. It only reads data you already have access to, and it can only take the actions listed below.

What they can read

Agents read your workspace's own data — only what the person who set them up can see. They never reach into another workspace.

Area

What the agent sees

Deals

Stage, amount, close date, owner, custom fields, stage history, and how recently anything happened.

Companies

Company details and custom fields, their deals, and activity across the whole account.

Contacts

Contact details, role on a deal, and how recently each one actually engaged.

Activity

Recent emails and meetings on a record, with recency.

Meeting notes

The notes and summary from a meeting that has been processed.

Reports

Saved reports shared with the workspace, and their latest run figures. Private reports stay private.

Enrichment

The firmographic data Coffee holds on a company or contact.

Campaign engagement

Who opened, clicked, or replied to a campaign email.

Website activity

Pages a known visitor viewed. Needs website visitor tracking.

Product usage

Usage signals attributed to an account. Needs product usage tracking.

What they can do

Action

What happens

Slack message

Posts to a channel from your workspace's channel list, or DMs a person. Needs a live Slack connection — the toggle is unavailable without one.

Email a teammate

Sends the result to one or more workspace members, or leave the recipient list empty to email the record's owner. You can't enter external addresses.

Draft for review

Writes the message and hands it to a person, clearly marked as a draft. It never sends on its own.

Create a task

Adds one follow-up task on the record, assigned to its owner.

Add a note

Adds a summary note on the record — for example, a handoff or call recap.

Update a field

Fills a Coffee custom field. It never overwrites a field that syncs from your CRM.

Assign an owner

Routes a record to a teammate.

Add to a list

Adds a record to a list.

Email the contact

Sends to the record's own contact. Only agents built with this can do it — the builder never adds it on its own.

Create a campaign

Builds a new campaign.

Edit a campaign

Changes an existing campaign.

Launch a campaign

Starts sending a campaign.

Pause a campaign

Pauses a running campaign.

Resume a campaign

Restarts a paused campaign.

Delete a campaign

Permanently deletes a campaign and its sequence.

Outbound email from an agent comes from Coffee, showing the name of the person who set the agent up. Replies route back to them. This is expected, not a bug.

Safety rails

  • Nothing reaches a prospect without a person. Unless an agent was explicitly built to send or launch campaigns, it always hands the message to a person as a draft.

  • CRM-synced fields are never overwritten. Agents write Coffee fields, notes, and tasks — never fields that sync from your CRM.

  • Everything is scoped to the workspace. Email recipients must be current workspace members, checked again at the time of sending.
