Assigning deal owners

Learn how to assign or update deal owners in Coffee, whether you are creating a new deal or reassigning an existing one.

Every deal in Coffee is assigned to a specific team member to ensure clear accountability and tracking.

Assigning an owner when adding a new deal

When you create a deal manually, you are set as the owner by default, but you can change this immediately:

  1. Click to add a new deal.

  2. In the modal that opens, locate the Owner field.

  3. Click the dropdown menu and select the team member who should own the deal.

  4. Complete the rest of the deal details and save.

Changing the owner of an existing deal

You can reassign deals at any time from the main deals list:

  1. Go to Deals on the left sidebar.

  2. Ensure you are in the Table view and locate the Owner column.

  3. Click on the name of the current owner for the deal you wish to change.

  4. Select the new owner from the dropdown list.

Adding multiple owners to a deal

A deal can have more than one owner. This is useful when deals involve shared responsibility across team members.

  1. Go to Deals on the left sidebar.

  2. In Table view, locate the deal and click on the pencil icon on the Owner column for that deal.

  3. In the dropdown that opens, use the Search members field to find an additional team member.

  4. Click their name to add them as a co-owner.

  5. Repeat to add more owners as needed.

Setting a primary owner

When a deal has multiple owners, one is marked as Primary. The primary owner is displayed by default in the Owner column.

To change which owner is primary:

  1. Click on the Owner column for the deal.

  2. In the dropdown, hover over the team member you want to make primary.

  3. Click the star icon (☆) next to their name. It will display a "Make primary" tooltip on hover.

  4. The selected owner is now marked as Primary.
