Adding custom fields in Coffee

Add, edit, and delete custom fields for People, Companies, and Deals

You can review standard fields and add custom fields for each record type in Coffee — People, Companies and Deals — all from one place: Settings > Workspace > Data Model.

How to add a custom field

  1. Click Settings in the main navigation.

  2. Select Data Model.

  3. Select the record type you want to edit: People, Companies or Deals.

  4. Click Add field in the top right corner.

  5. Enter a Field name.

  6. Select a Type for the field, such as Text, Number, Date, or AI.

  7. If you selected a type other than AI, fill in any additional settings for that field type.

  8. Click Create.

The new field appears in the fields table for that record type, marked Custom under Source, and as a column in the matching list view (People, Companies, or Deals).

How to add an AI field

AI fields use AI to research or generate information automatically for each record. To add one:

  1. Follow steps 1–5 above.

  2. Under Type, select AI.

  3. Enter a Prompt describing what you want Coffee to research or generate.

    1. Optional: Under Suggestions, click a suggested prompt (such as Buyer Fit, Buying Role, Person Engagement, or Department) to auto-fill a common field.

  4. Under Run on list, choose which records the field applies to. Selecting All records adds the field across every list for that record type, rather than a single list.

  5. Review the credit cost shown, then click Create.

For prompt-writing examples, see Creating and using AI fields.

How to edit or delete a field

  1. Go to Settings > Data Model.

  2. Select the record type.

  3. Click the ••• menu next to the field you want to change.

  4. Select Edit to update the field, or Delete to remove it permanently.

ℹ️ Note: Standard fields (marked Standard under Source) ship with Coffee and can't be edited or deleted. Only custom fields (marked Custom) can be changed.
