Quick summary
Formula fields let you calculate a value automatically based on other fields on a record, such as classifying company size or measuring time between two dates.
What are formula fields?
Formula fields are custom fields you can add to people, companies, or deals. Instead of entering a value manually, Coffee calculates it for you using a formula you build or describe.
How to create a formula field
Click Settings in the main navigation.
Select Data Model.
Select People, Companies, or Deals.
Click Add field.
Enter a Field name.
Under Type, select Formula.
In the Describe the calculation box, type what you want the formula to do — such as "Average amount" — or click one of the suggested formula chips shown below the box. Suggestions vary by record type.
To build the formula manually instead, click Build it manually to switch to a dropdown of formula types (such as AVERAGE), then select which field it applies to.
Click Generate formula. Coffee turns your description into a formula and shows it as an editable Expression for you to review.
If needed, click the field placeholder in the expression to change which field the formula runs on.
Click Create.
Suggested formulas
Coffee suggests different starter formulas depending on the record type:
Companies: Company Age, Enterprise Account, Revenue Tier
Deals: Days To Close, Large Deal, Past Due Close Date
People: Email Domain, Has LinkedIn, New Contact
